Giving Back

Each month, we will be featuring a different non-profit organization that serves children and donate a portion of proceeds from all orders that month.

Meet November and December's Organization:

Together We Rise is a non-profit organization that has a vision of improving the lives of children in foster care across the nation. Every day they help more than 250 foster youth by collaborating with individuals, companies, and community partners to bring resources to foster youth. This can include anything from a new bicycle, to school supplies, to scholarships, to a duffel bag so they no longer have to put their belongings in trash bags when moving to a new home (yes, that's a real and completely unacceptable reality for foster youth).

This organization does so many amazing things for foster youth. Every year they select 10-15 youth who are going to be starting college and provide them with a $90,000 scholarship. Not only do they provide this financial assistance, but they also provide mentors for the youth, as well as emotional and wrap around services to them year round. They also host reunification events for siblings who have been separated. They bring siblings together from around the country and host a day of bonding and reconnecting at Disneyland for them.

As a social worker (MSW) who worked in child welfare for 5 years, this cause is near and dear to my heart. These kids are amazing and deserve everything this organization makes possible for them. Because of this, and because the shop will be taking a break December 15 through December 31, Together We Rise will be the featured non profit organization for both November and December.

There are so many more things Together We Rise does for these youth. To learn more about the organization your order this month will benefit, check out their website: www.togetherwerise.org
